The Pune Police have detained Vishal Agrawal, the father of a 17-year-old who fatally crashed his speeding Porsche into a motorcycle, killing two individuals. Agrawal, a real estate developer, was arrested in Aurangabad on Monday, May 20, following the incident. On the following day, the owners of two bars that served alcohol to the minor were also taken into custody.

Agrawal had been evading the authorities but was captured early Tuesday morning in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar area. The accident, which occurred early Sunday in Pune's Kalyani Nagar, resulted in the deaths of techies Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta. Ashwini died instantly, while Aneesh passed away shortly after being transported to a hospital. The teenager involved in the crash was granted bail within 14 hours of being detained, prompting significant public outrage.


Latest Developments


  • Vishal Agrawal, the father of the 17-year-old involved in the Pune car accident, was arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and will be presented in court today. He faces charges under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

  • Three bar executives—Cosie restaurant owner Pralhad Bhutda, manager Sachin Katkar, and Hotel Black manager Sandip Sangle—were arrested for serving alcohol to the minor. CCTV footage showing the juvenile drinking at one of the bars surfaced on social media.

  • According to the FIR, the teenager and his friends partied at Cozy Bar from 9:30 pm to midnight, then moved to Hotel Black until 1 am. The fatal accident occurred at around 3:15 am on Sunday.

  • Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut alleged Pune police offered pizza and burger to the accused teen after the crash. He accused an NCP MLA of helping the teen and demanded Pune's police commissioner's removal.

  • Aneesh Awadhiya's uncle criticized Pune Police for inaction and termed bail conditions for the teen absurd, dubbing him a "human bomb."
